Well, simple really. You have the drawing which you are trying to show your technical skill and show your ability, but then you have the other which is computer generated, and almost incredibly cheesy, which throws the concentration on your skill out the window and focuses the viewer on how cheesy the animation is. Its a shift of importance.

I guess the notion that the drawing is derived from the 3d render is enough, huh?

I think instead of supporting, you just revealed your process. And gives them one more thing to open and watch. Its one of those things that they'll care incredibly about, or not at all.
