I agree with polity, it's sort of sloppy and uninteresting.
I do love the last photograph, and I really love the drawings on your flickr pre-hometest, and wish you would have done something along those lines.

oh SICK i am getting critiqued on CU livejournal ALL THESE LONG MONTHS of trolling and now it's my turn!!!

ok so - #6 is a composition notebook
- here is my portfolio - http://www.flickr.com/photos/dfrrrtt/sets/72157623001270539/
it also included this video i made at mica pre college: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-RfyhS6OzXw

i didn't do any "pre-hometest" illustrative work because i wanted to try some big boy ideas, i worry that my drawings are a little too hip a little too "threadless.com"

uuhhhh i didn't include explanations

in my questionnaire i mentioned giles deleuze and his schizophrenic rhizome and "schizoanalysis" thing being important to one and six

basically i wanted to tackle one and six as a schizophrenic would and make a lot of impossible connections and describe impossible patterns and obsess over organizing a bunch of disjointed information i wanted to schizoanalyze the prompt

Hey

You need to stop window shopping art work.

dont try to be edgy

just do what comes naturally

i cant help but connect your work with previously shown hometest answers.. ( that were not good to begin with)

your combination of images are like a really poor equation.

It just doesnt make much sense or its just very poorly put together.

Your purple composition book seems to be more of a sketch book for potential projects. Not a finished piece.

This isnt cohesive.
The pieces are a shallow attempt at something we have all seen done much better.
I am not sure if you will get in or not

but i get the feeling you need to really take a look at what your creating

and calling "your" art.

if this is something you feel proud of making then

i suggest applying to a different school.

what's the point of posting in anon? the original poster can just trace it back to whoever via their IP which is on their comment banner when he looks at the post.

just to offer a bit of comfort
I liked your test
and cooper seems like the type of school to recognize potential in their hometests
it's the thought that counts, you'll learn the rest
I'm sort of embarrassed about my hometest now, my work's changed a lot.

I think it'd be interesting to see someone like you here
you seem malleable
good luck

oh, i knew you'd like it. in fact, this hometest reminded me of urs if anyone's(even ur profle pic).
and i knew it was won, lol. AND, i knew polity was high. so obvious you livejournal people!

and, to horsemorgue: dont worry about these comments too much, some of us are really critical. I would even say that some of the harshist of cooper freshman are actually those on the livejournal..
i for one like your idea for the video/incline peace, its just the presentation and lenghth thats bothering me. and the documentation for the other pieces is just shitty, hope u did better when u packed it and sent it(again, giving u the benefit of the doubt)

I like your home test very much. I'll post mine after i send it in (which should be very soon). The only thing i would criticize is the length of the video (but that can work as it becomes sort of hypnotic) and the pieces you chose to submit as your physical portfolio. Judging by ur flickr you have much stronger work but your choices probably were dictated by factors of which i'm not aware.

Keep it up!
